Making the Right Investments with the Right Financial Adviser

Craig Emanuel
October 21, 2021

I have been in the industry for 15 years now and over that time I have worked at a number of different firms. I have met hundreds of financial service professionals during my career to date, and my observation has been that financial advice is a very personal endeavor.

A financial adviser that is perfect for one person might be wrong for another. In my view, the relationship you have with the Right Financial Adviser is perhaps not unlike the relationship you should have with your family doctor; in that it is essential that you have a good rapport built on both trust and respect. The relationship built with your Adviser should be a long standing one that will endure through both the highs and lows of investment market cycles and changes in your life circumstances.

Short term portfolio returns are not important. Of great importance is a financial strategy designed specifically for you.

In my career, I have also observed that the skills of financial advisers vary considerably with each adviser of course having their own strengths and weaknesses – which one might expect. So, it is important for you to consider your advisers strengths and weaknesses and ask yourself does that match your needs for them to be the Right Financial Adviser for you.

Choosing the Right Financial Adviser, I would argue, is just as important as choosing the right GP. Sure, money cannot buy you happiness or health but having to worry about money can be very stressful, which does affect your wellbeing.

The Right Financial Advisers are there to help you deal with both financial and often non-financial concerns, and proactively reinforce the importance of sticking to your strategy.

Truthfully, skill in managing money varies considerably between people. Sometimes, it is also the case that people who believe they are highly skilled are often not as successful as others who have had the benefit of some professional advice. If you don’t have the time, or inclination (or skills), or you seek the advantage of some insight from a qualified professional;

One of the keys to achieving financial freedom is seeking the advice of a competent financial adviser to help you manage some of your wealth – often, in particular, investing for your retirement.

You’ve worked hard to build your wealth to where it is today, so it’s essential to optimize and structure your investments in a way that brings you the best outcomes in the future.  The harder your investments work, the less you have to.

The Road to Financial Freedom

Through the midst of this pandemic, holding the right investments as well as portfolio positioning has never been more important. You may have seen our previous article Stay the Course reminding everyone that regardless of market predictions, investing requires a long-term strategy. In my opinion, this will always remain true. We encourage all our clients to take a long-term approach with their investment portfolio for optimum results.

While the road to financial freedom looks different to everyone – depending on your current assets, your life stage, and your tolerance to risk –

the Right Financial Adviser can help make this road clearer and a far more enjoyable journey than trying to do it alone.

You should be confident that your road to financial freedom – your strategy – has been crafted with considerable expertise developed from an industry-leading experience.

Our aim is to help all our clients have access to unique investment opportunities that they otherwise wouldn’t know existed.
